This information will help you know what to expect while supporting a welcoming and enjoyable experience for everyone at the Club.

Guest Information

Please use the Google Map below for specific directions to Washington Golf & Country Club. When you arrive, there is parking available adjacent to the Clubhouse located on N. Glebe Road as well as across the street in the parking lots next to our Tennis/Fitness center. If you are visiting the Racquet Sports/Fitness center, please use the following address for directions: 4825 Old Dominion Drive, Arlington, VA 22207.
Parking signs are posted to help ensure safety and order. Members must notify Club management if a guest's vehicle is going to be left overnight. The use of Club parking areas for private parties off-premises is prohibited without prior approval by management. The Club is not responsible for loss of personal property or for damage to vehicles driven onto Club premises or by the valet company.

Upper Level
Includes 1894 & Woodhole Bar
• Jackets are mandatory for gentlemen on the main floor and women should dress comparably.
• Dress jeans are allowed but cannot be patched, frayed or bleached. Dress shoes required.
• Shorts and other informal attire are not permitted in these areas during hours of operation.

Lower Level
Includes the Grill, Tap Room, & Outside Dining
• Casual attire is appropriate for the inside lower level. 
• Men must wear a shirt with a collar; however, mock turtlenecks are permitted. Clothes must be clean, dry, and appropriately fitted.
• Shirts must be tucked in unless designed to be worn otherwise.
• T-shirts, gym shorts, short shorts, cutoff shorts, cargo pants, cargo shorts and midriff-baring apparel are not permitted.
• Denim jeans are permitted on the lower level, but cannot be patched, frayed or bleached. • Women may wear accessory hats.
• Men must remove hats when entering the Clubhouse. Outside only: hats with forward facing bills are acceptable.
• Swimsuits and bare feet are prohibited throughout the Clubhouse and outside areas. • Locker rooms may be used for changing into swimming attire provided that appropriate cover is worn between the locker room and pool area.
• Swimsuits are allowed on the Grill Terrace but only if appropriately covered. A towel does not constitute appropriate cover for swimwear nor does a coverup through which most of the swimsuit can be seen.

Cell Phone Usage: Cell phones should not ring on Club property and must be placed on 'silent,' 'vibrate' mode or turned off. As a courtesy to others, all incoming and outgoing calls must be made in a discreet manner and can only be received or made in the following areas: the locker rooms, parking lots, and roadways on Club property. The Club prohibits cell phone conversation throughout the remainder of the property. All calls in approved designated areas should be brief in duration and conducted in a subdued voice. Where possible, use the Club courtesy phones to return phone calls.

Portable Electronic Devices: In the Clubhouse, no electronic devices may be used in 1894 Dining Room and Bistro Terrace Areas. Laptops are restricted to the Men’s Locker Room, Ladies Locker Room, Ladies Lounge, Men’s Grill and Private Event Spaces. All other electronic devices may be used in ‘silent mode’ in all other Clubhouse areas. Any electronic device may be used on ‘silent mode’ in the pool area.

Indoor smoking policy: Indoor smoking on Club property is only permitted in the Smoking Room. Food and beverage service is not required to be provided by staff in the designated smoking areas. Lit smoking products are not permitted to be carried into other indoor areas of the Clubhouse.

Outdoor smoking policy: Smoking is permitted on the lower veranda (outside the Men’s Grill and Tap Room), on the golf course and in the parking lots. Smoking is not permitted in any of the outdoor dining areas. Smoking is not permitted on the main floor outdoor terraces without prior consent of the General Manager in consultation with the House Chairman.

Golf Dress Code

Men/Boys
Conventional golf attire must be worn at all times when on the golf course and practice areas. Men must wear a shirt with a collar which shall be tucked in. Mock turtlenecks are permitted. Shorts must be at least mid-thigh in length. Jeans, cutoffs, athletic shorts, cargo pants and shorts and sweat pants will not be permitted. Only approved golf shoes will be permitted on the golf course.

Women/Girls
Conventional golf attire in good repair must be worn at all times when on the golf course and practice areas. Women’s blouses may have a collar, mandarin or jewel neckline. Women’s shorts, skorts and skirts must be mid-thigh or longer in length. Jeans, sweatpants, tank tops and halter-tops will not be permitted. Only approved golf shoes will be permitted on the golf course.

Slow Play/Fast Play
Time Allocation: All groups are required to complete 18-holes of play in 4 hours or less. Players teeing off before 11:00 a.m. on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays must complete play in four hours or less. Players teeing off before 8:00 a.m. on weekends and holidays are expected to finish in three hours and 45 minutes or less. On days when carts are restricted to the paths, groups will be allowed an additional 15 minutes.

Dress Code

Men/Boys:
Shirts: Collared shirts or tennis performance shirts (which may or may not have a collar, but must have sleeves)
Shorts: Tennis shorts, pockets on both sides, at knee or shorter
Pants: Tennis warm-up pants with side pockets

Inappropriate tennis attire for gentlemen and boys:
Sleeveless shirts, bathing suits, soccer shorts, basketball shorts, cargo shorts, jeans and jean shorts.

Women/Girls:
Shirts: Sleeveless tops, traditional polo shirts and quarter sleeve and full-length sleeved tops
Tennis dresses, skirts and shorts with side pockets

Inappropriate tennis attire for women and girls:
Midriff-baring tops, leggings, yoga and capri pants, Lycra shorts and pants, workout pants and shorts. Workout pants and shorts may be worn as an undergarment.

Footwear for both genders and all ages: 
Tennis shoes that are designed and manufactured specifically for the game of tennis. The bottoms are relatively flat and can be white, black, blue or any combination of colors. However, they do not have puckers like you see on the bottom of running shoes. They also do not leave black marks on the courts. 

Excluded footwear: Running shoes, basketball shoes, shoes with cleats, any shoe with a bottom that digs into soft court surface material, or when playing inside, marks the hard courts.

Cell Phone Policy
Cell phones are not permitted for use around the Tennis and Fitness Center. We kindly ask that you put your cell phone on 'silent' or 'vibrate.'
